Taco Salad

So I was at the dollar store and found this neat little gadget, a tortilla shell pan that makes a bowl.  Only a buck. So this was what I based my dinner on tonight.  (See pic below)

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds of 90/10 ground beef
  • 1 head of lettuce chopped
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 1 tomato chopped
  • 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can of refried beans
  • 1 cup of white dry wine
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil for the pan
  • 1 packet of JR Watkins Taco Seasoning
  • 1 packet of JR Watkins Chili Seasoning
  • 1 cup of chili sauce
  • 8 ounce can of tomato sauce
  • 1 can of green chili’s
  • 1 cup of sour cream
  • 4 tortilla for bowls
  • Taco sauce

HOW TO:

First take the tortilla pan and put a shell in it and cook in a 375 degree oven for 10 minutes.  Make 4 of them and put them aside.

Take the oil and heat in a pan add the ground beef, cook on medium for about 5 minutes, add the seasoning packets the chili sauce, tomato sauce, the green chili’s and the wine.  Cook on low for about 10 minutes. 

Take the shell and fill with lettuce, add the beans then the meat mixture, take the tomatoes, onions, cheese and the sour cream and layer on top. Add the taco sauce and enjoy!

(Don’t be afraid to use seasons in packets, they are only a bunch of seasoning that you would normally use individually but conveniently in one package.  Read the ingredients, it sometimes cheaper then buying them all individually.)
