Macaroni with Meat Ragu (14 WW points)

I made this as a large pot of Ragu and measured out my pasta before combining it with the remainder of the sauce to make one serving. So 1 1/4 cup of cooked macaroni and 1 cup of the ragu is considered a serving, which is 14 Weight Watchers Points. 4 for the pasta and 10 and for the sauce.

All vegetables are finely chopped.

  • 2 Celery stalks
  • 1 whole peeled onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 1 green pepper
  • 1 pound of hot sausage
  • 2 pounds of 90/10 ground beef
  • 4 teaspoons oregano
  • 3 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of thyme
  • 1 teaspoon of allspice
  • 1 package of Sazon
  • 1 teaspoon of cumin
  • 1 teaspoon of parsley
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons of dark chili powder
  • Pam cooking spray
  • 1/4 cup of low sodium chicken broth
  • 2 cups of Hunts tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup of white wine
  • 2 teaspoons of parmesan cheese

First cut all vegetable up and put aside, take the sausage out if its casing and put aside.  Heat up a large nonstick pot with Cooking Spray.  Add all the vegetables in and add the seasonings.  Heat for about 5 minutes and add the sausage cook for about 7 minutes add the beef.  Once you brown that all together for about another 5 minutes add the chicken stock and the sauce.  Cook for about 5 minutes and add the wine.  Make sure the heat is on low and cook for about 20 minutes. In a large pot boil some salted water and cook the macaroni.  Once it is done drain the pasta and measure out 1 and 1/4 cup of pasta (serving size) which equals four points.  You then add the 1 cup of sauce to the pasta.  Toss and add the parmesan cheese.

That is it.  This equals 14 points.
